Frequently asked questions - Are paintball equipment rentals

What is paintball?

Paintball is played in an highly controlled out door paintball course with referees. It's an exciting high adrenaline recreational sport which can be played with your own private group or open play with friends, family or strangers. You can challenge yourself and see if your video game skills translate well into real life. There are many different type of fields and game modes including Domination, Team Death Match, D-Day, Demolition, Search and Destroy, Kill Confirmed, Resupply, Total Elimination, The Alamo, Capture the Flag, Attack and Defend and MUCH more.

You can use our paintball equipment rentals or your own equipment. Players must wear full facial cover approved paintball masks. Each player uses a paintball marker/gun powered by compressed air that shoots paintballs at their opponents. The paintballs are colorful gelatin capsules filled with a brightly colored, washable liquid. Upon contact, the paintballs split open, leaving a splat of color that marks the player eliminated.  Most of the game modes played at TPA Paintball offer unlimited instant respawns. Once a player is eliminated they return to their team's designated respawn zone, wipe off any old hits and return to the action. This allows players to learn from their mistakes, change strategy mid game and maximize their field play time.  When you have unlimited lives it puts everyone on an equal playing field. Most games are around 10-20 minutes long or until a mission or objective is achieved.

Is it safe?

Paintball is played in a very safe and controlled outdoor paintball course. Many insurance research companies consider it safer than hobbies like bowling and tennis. It is not a contact sport. Opponents may not shoot each other within 20 feet. TPA Paintball is committed to providing safe, enjoyable paintball game modes with balanced teams for all players. Each player must attend our safety briefing prior to playing. Players are expected to follow the rules at all times. Players who do not follow the rules will be removed from the field and/or the facility all together  without refund. Please see our FIELD RULES for more info.

Does it hurt to get shot?

This is paintball and not laser tag. There is incentive not to get shot. That's what makes paintball so exciting. The paintball breaks open upon impact, and generally causes very little pain. What pain is experienced is more of a stinging sensation from the impact through clothing. The feeling has been described as being “popped” with a towel, and it’s gone in a matter of seconds. You can count on coming off the field with a few welts from paintball impacts.

What do I need to wear?

We encourage everyone to wear loose fitting, dark clothing. You don’t have to wear camouflage fatigues, but if you have a pair, feel free. Comfortable, close-toed footwear is a must. Boots, cleats or shoes with good traction are best, as we are an outdoor facility with hills and a creek. We do not recommend shorts, open toe shoes, tank tops, halters, or short-sleeved shirts. We recommend that all the skin is covered.  Gloves are not a bad idea as well. We recommend a baseball cap, bandanna or winter beanie for the top of your head.

Will the paint come out of my clothing?

Paintballs are non-toxic, environmentally safe and contain water-soluble materials. They usually do not stain clothing and wash out easily. Most stains come from grass and dirt, not the colors of paint.

Do you fill CO2 and Compressed air tanks?

We only fill compressed air since it's a much  safer and reliable propellant. We no longer fill CO2 for safety  and insurance reasons. Don't worry 99.9% of all paintball markers/guns will run on compressed air.  We provide paintball equipment rentals with compressed air tanks and unlimited air fills for all our customers.

Can I bring my own equipment?

Yes, you can bring your own equipment. However, all packages include paintball masks, makers/guns, pod packs, pods, barrel sock, compressed air tank and all day compressed air fills. All paintball markers/guns must be set to semi auto. No full auto, 3 shot burst, ramping or excessive bounce. All paintball markers/guns must be set at 10 BPS (balls per second). All paintball masks and tanks must be approved by staff prior to use at the field.  All tanks must have a current hydro date or may not be used.

Can I bring outside food and drinks?

Yes. We encourage our guests to bring their own food and non alcoholic drinks to our outdoor paintball course.  We do not have any public drinking fountains. Many local pizza shops deliver to our facility.

How old do you have to be to play?

We offer low impact .50 caliber private party parties for adults and children as young as 8 years old only if specified at the time of reservation. We offer traditional .68 caliber open play and private for anyone 10 years old or older.

Do I need a reservation?

Yes. All groups and individual players must have a reservation. This applies to Open Play and Private Parties. Please call 330-823-9692 to reserve your spot. Availability is limited each day so book early. When you make your reservation please have your credit card handy to reserve your spot.  We host open and private play most Saturdays and Sundays. Weekdays are for private play only unless we are running a holiday or summer special.

What method of payments do you take?

Cash is always the preferred method of payment for quick sales to return to play. As a small business we only have one credit card machine.  If forty people are trying to buy something it will give us less time on the field.  However we currently accept Cash, Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and PayPal.

Do I have to put a deposit down?

We now offer online payments for admission fees and paintballs. We do not require a deposit, but do require a Visa or Mastercard to hold your reservation. As long are you making any changes or cancellations to your reservations at least 1 week /7 days before your reservation time you will not be charged.

Open Play Cancellations - If you make any changes or cancellations to your reservation less than 1 week /7 days you will be charged a deposit based on the number of players you were registered for. For example, 1-10 players you will be charged $100; 11-20 players you will be charged $200; 21-30 players charged $300, etc.

Private Party Cancellations - If you make any changes or cancellations to your reservation less than 1 week /7 days you will be charged a deposit based on the number of players you were registered for.
